Re: What music are you listening to?

Today, I cut the umbilical cords from a fourth generation aloe vera plant, and made up new "pads" for the young ones to live in (I hope). I have lost count of how many offspring are there. (That is why I saved all those little pots, I guess.) Big Aloe stayed inside with me all winter long. So big, didn't know where to keep it, so we just kept it where it was happy.

Young man who recently moved out from his mother's house next door to his own pad came over today and cut her grass with their old lawnmower. We had a nice talk.

The purple irises are blooming in my garden in my oasis yard. Talked to Dad on the telephone today--he is watching the pines and applying an east Texas flair to the bonsai concept for the peach tree back near the fence in his backyard. My granddaughter (the only girl among five grandchildren of this "only child" came over with her mom today just to say "hello" and find out which seashell of my lifelong collection she could talk me out of this time. She chose a small, ivory-white one. I will not let her have the beach wood artifact that rather looks like a snake and is very fragile. But she has her eye on it....

I guess I should be posting this on my "I Love it When" thread, but I really just started out to write up my play list for this beautiful afternoon I give thanks for.

And the play list was:

Cat Stevens--Moonshadow, Oh Very Young, Into White, Morning Has Broken
Emerson, Lake, & Palmer (again)--From the Beginning
Chick Korea and Return to Forever--Light As a Feather (it begins to annoy me about halfway through, but it rocks, anyway)
Chicago--Make Me Smile
There was also something by Louden-can't remember what it was, but it was beautiful
Sly and the Family Stone--Everybody Is a Star (love the stuff that sounds like hens there)
And probably some more stuff--I'm sure "The Boxer" was probably in there somewhere.

I type alot. Sorry--I guess--got carried away.

Viva la Musica

InPeace,
InLove

Re: What music are you listening to?

I've gone a bit 'old school'- Alice Cooper, Wellcome to my Nightmare and Iron Butterfly, In a-galda-da-vida. Did you know it was originaly called In The Garden Of Eden (just like in the Simpson episode were Bart hands it out as a Hymnn in church) but by the time the rest of the band got there the singer (writer) was so drunk it came out as... Oh, you did.

Tango Siempre.

Went to see them the other night - they performed with a couple of Argentine tango dancers; really enjoyed it. Bought a CD and got it signed! (I'm still a teenage fan in my head)

Tango Siempre - the UKs leading tango ensemble

(click on Audio to hear some of their music)

Keshe Niftah (When We Open) by 'Eden Mi Qedem

Discovered them a week or two ago on youtube. Got the album at the itunes store. Awesome band from Jerusalem. Mix of classical middle eastern with electronic and dance sounds in hebrew, arabic and english. Their version of Yedhidh Nefesh is sweet.

Played Brain Salad Surgery for the first time in years the other night. Still brilliant. I saw them "at their peak" when this album came out. One of the best gigs ever....

Still love the early albums but went off them when they started doing the "experimental" stuff.

Re: What music are you listening to?

Not only am I passionate about music, as well as simply listening to whatever I’ve already got or falls into my lap, I’m forever on the lookout for interesting new stuff. The great majority of what I hear does nothing or little for me but I’m motivated by the notion that there may be somebody or group or whatever out there making music that I would absolutely love so I need to keep hunting for it. The nightmare scenario is that I fail to hear some music that is, for me, “perfect”, an ideal that I always seek. So against all the odds, (but vindicating my never-ending search!) I have recently discovered a band who push all my buttons so to speak. And what’s even more amazing is they’ve only been in existence (with a hiatus) for about 30 years and I’d never even heard of them let alone heard them. So now I’ve started with their debut album from 1977 (called 1313, which I’ve just seen is to be re-mastered and re-issued with bonus tracks - !!!) and have had their two subsequent albums delivered. The band are Univers Zero. If this means anything to you, I’d describe them as being like the Bruford / Wetton / Fripp / Cross / Muir period King Crimson line-up playing music written by Bartok.

Quote from a review: “For music fans who worship at the altar of that thorny, convoluted and rigorously challenging wing of the prog canon known as Rock In Opposition…Univers Zero exists largely beyond reproach.”

I didn't know air conditioners have cut albums (learn something new everyday. )

I believe you're thinking of AC/DC (a group I don't listen to unless they're on the radio.)
