If such assumptions as these prevent you from exploring your own spiritual nature and inquisitiveness, they are in themselves the kinds of "attachments" I would suggest act as barriers to our spiritual growth.

Please know that I am not trying to undermine your self-estimation at all, or imply that you are a quivering and helpless wimp! I'm just trying to answer your inquiries and the implied question "what is the purpose of this 'spiritual' stuff, anyway?" Ultimately, it's up to you to explore your own questions and answers.

From Louis ...
Thank you for your comments.
To be honest, I'm not much interested in exploring my "spiritual" nature.
Early in life, I opted out of such a pursuit and concentrated on making my
material life comfortable and fulfilling . But now that I'm retired, I'm just
taking some time to go back and check things out again.
However, the more I read, the convinced I become that I was right
to opt out .
And forgive me if it seems that "spirtual believers" are the "quivering wimps"
who can't deal with reality without a psychological crutch .
Sorry for the rant -
No offense meant - none taken ...

It's a puzzle to me why religion and spirituality has been a lifelong passion for me, while for others, like my sister, and perhaps yourself seem to have no particular interest.

But this is my path and yours is your own. I don't expect little devils with pitchforks for either of us - just more learning in our different ways.

I wish you well.
