Re: Gouing to Italy
I've just visited a few of the cities, never to the countryside. Rome is incredible. If you go to Venice, lose yourself in the backstreets, St.Mark's also is incredible. The duomo in Florence is magnificent, also make sure you see the statue of David, it's breathtaking. Lastly, Pisa, a beautiful town, a lot more than just leaning tower.

Re: Gouing to Italy
You think all that waiting and queueing is worth it? I fail to see things like that.... Like also when in Amsterdam, the wife wanted to go into the anne frank house.... That also was a large queue... I have little time to be standing around doing nothing ;\ |

Re: Gouing to Italy
I know what you mean. I just went back to Rome recently so that my wife could visit. In the Vatican we queued for hours to get to the top of the cuppulla (sp?), it's a nice view but wasn't worth that much time. Some things though, like the statue of David, or the Sistene Chapel, most definitely are.

Not sure because you can see that statue from a distance and take photos without queuing... But maybe it is worth the wait.. Just never had enough time to do that.. Haven't had long trips to Italy... So it's a crazy rush to mark things off your 'check list'. |

Re: Gouing to Italy
Now that's what I really hate doing. Though I said the Sistene is worth the queue, the wife and I chose not to last time. I much prefer to wander, or to sit down somewhere and just soak it up.
