heh yea? One of my strapping military sons volunteered to go to Sri Lanka, to help clean up and provide aid (I never expected him to take such a stand). It's sad over there, dirty, dangerous, and he jumped at the chance! Army said "ok". He is 19. There is hope indeed...

There are many good people hidden in the every day senario, all waiting for the encouragement to freely express their hope and joy in other humanity who show a little respect and kindness. Yes, Ciel I am charged up as well. (a bit concerned. as I should be). These kids surprise us everyday with their intent and follow through. definitely not what the media portrays, I should think.

Good afternoon Bandit and Blue,

I grew up in Detroit during the 67-68 riots (learned to hide under my bed at the first sound of gunfire), was stationed in the Philipines during communist insurgent attacks during the 80s, and saw the vehemence of people during the Fishing rights conflict between Northwest US native Americans and "white" fishermen. I spent months in Haiti during the 90s uprising, and have partaken in the Haitian boat operations during the latter 90s. I've been knifed and shot at (thank God I didn't have to shoot back).

As a detective and boarding officer for the service, I have seen things that no man should see. It could make the strongest of men lose compassion, if not for the love and hope in God.

If the glass has any water at all, it is good. That means life has the potential to continue.

If you two care to consider history (at least in the United States), you will find a peculiar pattern emerges. Every 40 to 50 years or so, society's behavior swings from extreme lethargy to extreme action, complacency to rebellion.

Bandit, what you describe is nothing new. The same things were happening in the 1890s, then again in the late 1920s, then again in the 1960s, and now. Of course we can go back even further...1850s, 1800 decade, 1760s..

In between these radical decades the nation settled down, and prosperity presided.

I thank you for thinking I have a good heart. But I'm not a peace maker. I am a peace keeper. But I believe in peace.

And as God said, as we BELIEVE, so it shall be. Who can argue with that?
