Re: The Jasons

Hi guys:

I know of a "Jason Group" or a "Jason Committee" which was a group of prominent scientists and engineers that served as an advisory panel to the President of the United States over many years during the post World War II period. Common knowledege these days is that it was disbanded upon the advent of the current Bush Administration. Looks like they should have been kept together as this administration seems to have a need for lots of wise advice as it goes along.

Oh the "secret" group that was formed around 1958, and inherited the 'Manhattan project.' Had a high involvement in the Veitnam war, specialising in dectecting enemy tactics and presence on the Ho Chi Minh Trail..... Nope never heard of them... Something you wanted to discuss about them?

Re: The Jasons

Namaste Vaj..

The late Steven Jay Gould was a prodigious writer and researcher, and an inveterate Yankees fan. His major contribution, IMO, was his refinement of evolution theory and the fleshing out of his "theory of punctuated equilibrium". His premise was that evolution seldom moves at a steady rate over time, but moves ahead with jumps and irregular modifications to plants and animals to adjust life forms for and to irregular environental situations.

This is the first time that I've heard of the project though. Knowing what I do about his life it's just the kind of thing he'd cook up to ridicule those who rejected evolution theory

Re: The Jasons

lol... Project Steve.... That is an awesome title.

"Each animal is in some way uniquely designed to suit its particular environment, and I cannot help but attribute the complexity of the design to a Creator, rather than to random evolutionary forces."
—BOB HOSKEN, BIOCHEMIST, AUSTRALIA

"As a scientist, I look at the world around me, and observe engineering mechanisms of such remarkable complexity that I am drawn to the conclusion of intelligent design being behind such complex order."
—ANDREW MCINTOSH, MATHEMATICIAN, WALES, UNITED KINGDOM

"The complexity of nature clearly points to a Creator. Every biological and physical system, once understood, shows incredible complexity."
—JOHN K. G. KRAMER, BIOCHEMIST, CANADA

"I cannot imagine the universe and human life without an intelligent beginning, without a source of spiritual 'warmth' that lies beyond matter and its laws."
—ANDREY DMITRIYEVICH SAKHAROV, NUCLEAR PHYSICIST, RUSSIA

Just a few quotes to ponder on...
