i presume you mean the "pseudepigraphical" book, not the actual biblical figure. well, it's not part of the traditional canon, but part of later "wisdom" literature. have a read here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_of_Enoch the rediscovery of the various versions, including the qumran copy, haven't led to any great interest from within mainstream judaism. basically, if it was something we were particularly bothered with there would no doubt be commentaries on it and mention of it in the mystical tradition. in short, if we were interested in it we would have made sure it was preserved in a jewish context, as all our other texts were, particularly in light of the fact that the church was in possession of manuscripts. b'shalom bananabrain |
