Taking a back seat ... again.

Greetings and blessings to you all.

Some who know me might have noticed the incidence of 'testiness' creeping into my posts, and my views on fundamentalism might, in retrospect, be somewhat outspoken and unfair.

I apologies.

The reality is (as you know) I am fully engaged in a very intensive study of theology, with a demanding reading/writing schedule. I am now late with an essay on the arguments of the fourth century over the expression of Trinitarian doctrine, an area of particular interest to me; I am awash in councils, faith, religion, theologia and oikonomia, politics, spin, intrigue, philosophy ... the essay limit is 3.5k words ... I'm up to 7k, not finished, and facing a mamoth editing task.

I am now creeping into preparation time for the next essay, on Trinitarian analogy and typology in Augustine and Aquinas ...

... I have an exam in 5 weeks on O.T. studies (bananabrain, fancy sitting in for me?).

Stress factors are building. I'm hitting my kids more than ever! (I'm kidding!)

So I am telling myself again that I must withdraw from CR, for the meantime at least. Here I am writing to you, with my essay document waiting patiently behind the browser for me to get on with it.

I shall watch, of course, but I shall refrain from engagement, unless I can offer something succinct and non-inflamatory, probably on Catholic doctrine of Church history.

And if I start getting carried away, will someone please post a "how's the essay going?" reply to remind me of my priorities?

Thomas

I'm sorry Thomas but this is just an inducement for people to post inflammatory stuff such that you will be unable to refrain from posting.

Joking aside, good luck with your work. If I were you, I wouldn't even VISIT this site till I was done!

Yes and if you keep the Rastafarian sacrament within reach in true interfaith spirit, your essays will be much more free-ranging and interesting, although their theological underpinnings will probably fly to so many pieces floating in bongwater. But hey, it works for certain souls.

Peace,
P

Please do what you need to finish, Thomas. As much as I enjoy your posts, the CR forum can survive without you for a while. You really ought to concentrate on these very important tasks. We will all be here waiting for you to finish, and will heartly welcome you back. Then when you do come back, you can enlighten us with what you've learned.

Take a break, man!

Hi all ... thanks for the support ...

Managed to get my magnum opus on 4th century doctrinal disputes to within the essay limits, so it's printed and in the post – HURRAH!

Now playing catch-up on the next deadline – a review of the metaphysical underpinnings of Trinitarian anthropology in Augustine and Aquinas.

Just so you know, the staple diet of the keyboard seems to be gallons of instant coffee, and milk chocolate digestive biscuits ...

Good work getting your manuscript in Thomas! (Better you than me, hehehe).

We're missing your posts here, but that does not mean you are allowed to procrastinate...don't forget to come back when the papers are done though. Also, if you find yourself needing protein, cheddar cheese and pretzels make a good base for the coffe and biscuits.
