T H I N K before you post.

Don't know where I got it from. Maybe someone can tell me.

But somewhere along the line someone said THINK before you speak. I thought it valuable to teach my children. Could be valuable here.

You know I don't follow it all the time, and that is my problem to work on.

But I think THINK before you post would be handy. And you know I don't follow that all the time, another thing for me to work on and everyone to assist in reminding me.

THINK

True
Helpful
Inspirational
Necessary
Kind

THINK before you speak (or post) If it doesn't meet the all five criteria, consider whether it is worthy to put forth and why.

Every encounter we have with anyone either builds them up (raises them in consciousness or self esteem) or tears them down. Very few encounters are neutral. If we'd like a better world for us all to exist in, what would be more beneficial than raising our brothers and sisters self worth? And what would be the benefit to our world of deriding them?

I think this applies to all our encounters, be they physical or virtual, be they words, actions or posts.

It isn't an order, I don't have that authority. But what are your thoughts?

Namaste 17th,

Tis interesting, because while your persona loves needling and joking, nothing wrong with that. You also come off quite caring, compassionate, knowledgeable and helpful. I personally enjoy the dichotomy.

But, lol.... No.. lol

True
Helpful
Inspirational
Necessary
Kind

True, true means uncensored.... You need me censored.

Helpful, sometimes what you have to say isn't helpful, sometimes it is just what needs to be said.

Inspirational, that is quite hard for some, to -have- to inspire, I think the less you try to impress the more you have the chance to inspire... If you are always looking to inspire others, you will begin to think too highly of one's self.

Necessary..... Is personality necessary?

Kind, sometimes have to be cruel to be kind... But yeah If I ignore the first one (true) then I can do kind.... Most of the time.

Just I don't believe I could live up to such a task... Ok fair enough it seems fair and to most it would seem not a problem... But that is quite a thing for me to do...

--EDIT--
I seriously with truth find it suprising I come across as caring and helpful... And compassionate? What's that lol.... I find that shocking someone could think so highly of me, I'm sure it isn't just.

Sometimes you let your guard down, and allow us in. Sometimes it isn't down, yet the mask is transparent.

Re: T H I N K before you post.

All I am saying is yeah, fair one, it would indeed be of more use for people to have others doing the Wil THINK method, just I would find it hard and I'd stay and I guess watch like guests but I would see my opinions/posts as worthless, compared to the norm. So there would be no point in posting, but if we take it from you as an example or *thinks of other scholars* Flow, Dauer erm, Banana, Q Brugh and you know, the usual suspects.... For people coming here with the concern to learn about a certain subject the THINK method would be of much use and give the site much better feed back and online traffic I guess, not that it isn't good at the moment but I am sure it would improve everything, just I believe you'd lose that human/personality touch, but not everyone is looking for that some people don't want people of my likes assing around in their thread when they are very serious about something..... So yeah heh, see where I be coming from?

Namaste 17th,

a. it is not 'my' method, although I would like to use it myself more often.
b. the concept is not just for this site but all interactions

Now to address your points individually.

Your opinions, thought, posts as worthless, far from it, there are many here, me among them that look forward to your comments and insights. You are an individual with a worthy perspective.

Do you actually believe that human/personality requires that we put down others to make ourselves look better? You are talking to someone who took kicking folks in the knee when they put their foot in their mouth to an art form. I lived to deride, cajole, take advantage of others. High fives all around, laughs and beer at my table whilst I make fun of not only the world, but my friends and family, and those in front of me. Prior to learning the THINK concept I did find that my life was more rewarding letting that part of my personality go. It wasn't easy, and I still falter, the easy way was being the smart alek.

Yes, I see where you are coming from and as with your definitions, I see how you could incorporate both.

Re: T H I N K before you post.

If you don't use THINK, doesn't mean your putting others down... ;\ Just, you know... That your more of a less serious type of person, I am I guess not using the THINK method, but I am not always putting others down, I think anyway. lol.... Indeed I guess rewards can come from it but it gets all complicated lol check me lists before I say anything, it seems like your having to modify your self. The first things that come flying out our mouths when talking to someone, I did this yesterday.... I stopped halfway through because I was addressing someone who I wouldn't address like that because of who they are, but then it seems that you are moving to suit others, yet it can be hard to see the situation where they move for you and your needs.

But, I guess you would tell me something along the lines of the world doesn't revolve around you and you alone. Or something of self centred nature, but surley in some way or another you should preserve yourself, modifying your ways can kind of make you..... Merge in. Sorry I am babbling right... Forums are dead lol so milking this active topic as much as I can get for my money's worth.

You're saying the THINK method was one of the reasons? (or the reason) You changed?

I don't make myself to clear sometimes. No the THINK thing came after I decided to alter my behavior.

You are correct, just because you aren't using THINK doesn't mean you are putting anyone down or doing anything untoward. However it appears to me that more often than not, if you are not that your words would fit the mold of the concept. ie you are doing it innately without the use of the bacronym.

And yes, it is a method of changing ones behavior, changing ones self. How many other methods have we used in the past to do the same, peer pressure, justification, jobs, military service, churches, cults, locales. Our environment, our experiences and who we associate with changes, modifies, (consciously or unconsciously) who we are, what we think, and how we behave. Conversely when we change our behavior, we consciously or unconsciously we begin to change our environment, who we associate with and our experiences.

Re: T H I N K before you post.

lol... "THINK" b4 u post... only to discover THINK is an acronym for...

True...
Helpful...
Inspirational...
Necessary...
Kind...

what do I think...?

..if we only post things that are true, the site would fold, for to believe something is true there must be evidence, and nobody has evidence that their religion is true.. or that God is true... etc... so then, why bother comparing our religions..? and true... ur truth might differ to mine... it does not make it any less true, but still...

...helpful to who? helpful to the community of posters, helpful for one man, another, myself, who? who's needs take precedence?

...inspirational... lol...

...necessary? none of these posts are really necessary, surely?

and my fave... kind... aw...

what a lovely world u must all live in...
