Some ideas
Namaste all,
there had recently been some discussion about creating a section/sub-forum for more doctrinal discussion and though the idea of discussing doctinal subjects is perfectly fine and quite encouraged here, I, Brian does not feel that creating new subforums/sections would be apropos at this time. so, there it is. if someone is interested in a doctrinal discussion, it will be on a thread by thread basis. metta, ~v |

Re: Some ideas
Hi Vajradhara –
Is that strictly within the confines of Buddhist doctrine? I ask because (as discussed elswewhere) I am studying the idea of 'the person' within the Christian cultural mileau, and would welcome the chance to 'compare notes' and open avenues of thought beyond it, in dialogue with another Tradition. As I hope you might have gathered, this is not in the 'my way is better than your way' sense, nor that Christianity should alter its core doctrine in light of Buddhism, or vice versa. What I would appreciate in doctrinally orthodox input from a Buddhist or Vedic source, as part of my process involves the ideas of Purusha and Prakriti, the Thomist idea of essence and substance, being and is-ness. ADDENDUM: I've just realised there is a 'Comparative Studies' forum – so perhaps better there. Pax, Thomas |
