I think we get wrapped up in our worlds and become so blind sided.... Yesterday, I woke up to radio and for once I heard the news... And they were going on about how bad weed is and someone who is running for some high political position No idea who or what postion some woman, I do not keep up with politics.... Used weed when she was younger...

And she had come to the public to be "honest" about this but still believed she should get this job yet those who smoke it should be punished hard... Because "it is stronger now then when I used it..." lol....

Anyway they were going on and on about how weed is bad and so on (I know this doesn't relate stay with me.)

Then they took a break came back to speak of how tons of drunk football fans in manchester caused riots and ripped down a public television screen in a square and so on and so forth, the place the morning after looked like a war zone..... And you hear of these drink problems all the time... And in my half awake mind I thought....... Uhm.... Isn't that the main issue here? Tell me the last time you heard of a pack of stoners disturbing the peace and causing CHAOS! Or to keep this on track normal cigarette smokers? Yet a **** load of resources and taxes and funds are tied into smoking bans and so on....

I think they need to start looking to alcohol as a dangerous drug that should be highly moderated....

Anyway after this breif report and opinions of the victims and terrorised locals... They got straight back to comdeming smokers......

Re: smoking

ok, I hear ya. hears another one... (btw, totally unrealated subject, my bad). A gallery had a recent opening here Sydney, I think, anyway, the pictures displayed for this "regal"event were actually photos of children naked. A girl and boy aged about 12 and 10 all over the gallery, naked. Now, to me , yes, our bodies are a beautiful and wonderous thing, blah blah blah and yes I have many photos of my boys in the buff, but.......... this is different. Our prime minister suggested that the gallery should close this show as it was in bad tase. I agree. However, prominent "artsy" people said they it should remain open otherwise it would damage
Australias culture of art in the eyes of the world. ??????? Ok i saw some of these pics and no they werent lewd or suggestive, however....... I really shouldnt have to add anything here, should I???
think about this, if those photos were found on some random males cpmputer he would probably charged with child pornography....

Re: smoking

Children being nude in art isn't a new thing.... Some works of art I cannot see the problem with, others for obvious reasons yes.

Depending on what the image is and how it is presented determins in my artistic opinion on what is art and what is a bit more than that.... We all have our own tastes and styles with art. And again paintings of children nude I see as less shocking than photography art.... Like example, in my tastes and scale of art, I feel uncomfortable if I even see say a very young girl in just a swim suit posing in a way I feel unfit. Others wouldn't blink an eye.... And I also think then, well maybe that isn't how I should look at an image of a child like that? Just see it as simply a child... And not see it in a dark abusive tone.... Dunno yeah we are going off topic here lol.

Nude boys in art has been a pretty major thing for christianity for example... I guess swings and round abouts.

Re: smoking

Case-law should be informed by precedents in cases in which parents have sold their children. Countries where children can be sold into slavery must expect this sort of thing, but non-enslaving countries must find it to be inconsistent with Pursuit of Happiness. How can a child's guardians legally choose to expose them naked to the public eye (as in THE PUBLIC eye)? Imagine if Shirley Temple's parents had done that just so they could send an artistic message to the world using her nude body? It would be very difficult to argue that this was in the child's best interest -- probably impossible.

Way to go, Chris!

I still think about it usually once or twice a day, but haven't quite got enough umph to go buy a pack. Thankfully the urge passes before I get to the store and I forget.

Re: smoking

Thanks for the encouragement peeps! No, I didn't have one, Alex. Yesterday was eight weeks smoke free (cigs that is). I need to work on moderating my other substances, but I don't want to sabotage myself by taking on too much too fast. I'll be forty five this year, and I want to live to be really old, so I need to start working toward a more healthy lifestyle. I'm a victim of my own chronic boredom, so I have to begin to work through all the issues connected with that. This might sound weird, but being forced to cope with my brothers death taught me what one day at a time means. That was a tremendous help in getting through the really tough initial phase of kicking the cigarettes.

Doesn't sound weird to me. I am really glad you are 8weeks clean that is something... And it stands to show example of the strength of your will power... Admirable. Boredom is like one of the major players I know that from experience.... Gospel.
