Scare me? I am not even sure that is possible.... The "wow" comment was the only suitable post I could submit to define how impressed I was by the image and the creature. Wouldn't of thought you'd own reptiles... Anyway... That is a mighty fine creature... So, wow, once more.

Your friends face would of been priceless I am sure, shame you didn't catch it on camera heh......... Iggy? Named after 'someone' famous? Or just, a name you liked.

they do get big , so a good size enclosure is a must , i think it is a shame when you see some of them in a big fish tank , they like to be up high and have things to climb up, my iggy has a large thick branch that goes from top to bottom of her enclosure, and she likes to sit on the top shelf looking down to everything below her. that is what she would do if she was in her natural habitat of the rain forest, they bask in the sun in the trees and come down to do their poo poo in the pools and waterfalls , so when my iggy wants to go she comes down and scratches at the door for me to open it , and then she gets out and walks across the landing to the bathroom next door to her , i know it sounds a bit far fetched but i turn the shower on and she climbs in the corner shower and goes into the shower of water and does her poo poo,.

when we first had her we had read in a book about iguanas that they like to go to the toilet in water , so we thought we would try her in the shower and she did go , and she has just got in the habit of that,

i do clean the shower after her i might add,

when she is in the shower she loves it .

so her habits are very much like they would be in the wild, and she also has a large bedroom window that she is close to and has a view of the trees outside .

so i dont have to clean her enclosure very often , unless i am out when she starts tapping the door to come out , then she does it in her water bowl

its not that you can train them , you cant really train them, they are just wild , but she has got in the habit because it is natural to do a similar thing in the wild

when my son lived at home he did handle her more ,but i must admit i dont handle her as much as i could because those sharp claws really dig in and they dont really like it to much .
in the summer when its hot i take her in the garden and she basks on the round clothes line for a bit of real sun.

she does like to have the top of her head stoked and under her chin as well .

Re: question about a bird

did you know that in some parts of the world they eat iguanas
reptiles are prized but not as pets.

Iguana is a key ingredient in soups and stews. i have heard it tastes just like chicken, The meat is very soft and tender.

oh no fancy eating poor iggy

Yes she is really cool , she is in the prosess of shedding
at the momment .

they shed their skin , but not like a snake who shed their skin in one whole piece . but it comes off bit by bit and she looks a bit grotty at times when she is shedding , and i cant help myself by picking it off .

its a bit like when we have had sun burn and start picking the top layer of skin off .
