Re: Possible truce between Palestine & Israel
Interesting. I've always thought most conspiracy theorists were religious zealots. And right wing, most that I've come across fit that category. But topic for another thread maybe the demographics of your average conspiracy theorist.

Re: Possible truce between Palestine & Israel
lol I thought it was you on the soapbox this thread... to think that the Israeli government would want this political unrest proves you know nothing of what goes on over there every single day. So my suggestion is that you get off your little soapbox and take a trip yourself... because that type of opinion just shows a lack of common sense. and furthermore... You dont scare me... lol

If you think the US incapable of funding and maintaining a war situation to benefit itself then not only are you blinkered but you have never bothered to read any recent history. Common sense is no substitute for facts. So, sticking to the facts, you clearly do not like me and the feeling is more than mutually reciprocated. So why dont you just ignore me and I will do the same. Tao |

Re: Possible truce between Palestine & Israel
Well I live in this region of the world and I have no doubt that the US has no intention of allowing peace here any time soon.
The US will not even attend the Dublin talks on cluster bombs and any country that states "if we cease using cluster bombs then our humanitarian efforts will be hampered" clearly has a very unpleasant agenda for the world. Oh and I know that the holocaust happened and have no doubt it was so called Muslims that hijacked the planes on 9/11 (although I do have some serious questions about 9/11 and the US governements involvement with the bin Laden family). However, back to the topic. What do you think will happen if Olmert is forced out of the Presidency? Who is likely to take his place and what does it mean for any peace process? |

Re: Possible truce between Palestine & Israel
maybe if they quit using IED's.... give a little - get a little...
I believe that there will be peace and it will be false and it will last for 3 1/2 years. Who the president will be? I dont know. |

Ohhh yeh, improvised explosive devices. Like they really cause the instability and not the billions of dollars of American supplied warmongery. If you want Armageddon so bad why dont you go do some volunteer work in Iraq. |

Re: Possible truce between Palestine & Israel
Nothing actually came of the "truce" declarations, and there were some rocket firings afterwards, but: it seems now that, without any statement to that effect from either side, a truce-in-fact has settled in, just out of sheer weariness on both sides. Keep our fingers crossed, maybe it will hold until this weak unstable Israeli government falls, and maybe there will be serious soul-searching during the election about the price paid for those "settlements" and so on. A few Palestinian rockets could screw it all up and give Netanyahu a lock, but I don't see that as an inevitable outcome if the general state of peace-through-exhaustion holds for a while.

Re: Possible truce between Palestine & Israel
Spoke too soon I guess.
2 die in tit-for-tat clash between Israel, Hamas - Yahoo! News Palestinians launch a rocket, kill a guy and mangle some others, for no particular reason; Israelis shoot back, naturally miss the militants and kill a little girl playing in the street. Everybody expresses aimless anger. |

Re: Possible truce between Palestine & Israel
If one were to create a chart in which rows were labeled Israili and Palestinian and columns were labeled military deaths, civilian deaths, acres of building destroyed, number or people made homeless....
What would the totals look like... who would appear to have the upper hand? |
