New interest in Buddhism

Hello. I am new to this site and would like to say how lovely it is to see people from all walks and religions existing peacefully within the same space. I have never professed to any religion but am newly interested in eastern teachings. Can anyone suggest any books that would provide perhaps an "overview" of Buddhism, Taoism, etc. Thank you.

I reccomend "Joyful Path of Good Fortune" by the Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso as a good all round intro to Buddhism.

It is great here isn't it?!

I, also, am greatly interested in the tenents of Buddhism and have already been helped by the teachings, very early on.

I would like to hear anything from persons new to Buddhism and how it has affected your life.
