Matt 13 Parables
I am putting these up from Matt 13, if someone want to do them with me.
There is like 8 parables here and we can do them a little at a time if you want.
Everyone who want s to join can put what they think Jesus is trying to say under each verse or make an essay or whatever way you want to do it.
1 The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.
2 And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.
3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:
6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? 11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

Re: Matt 13 Parables
1 The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.
he comes outside and hangs by the sea
2 And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.
there was a lot of people coming to visit him and he climbed into one of the ships and kind of seperated himself from the crowd that was on shore.
3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
a sower plants a garden ( i think this orginal sower might be Jesus)
4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
some of the birds ate the seeds
5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:
the seeds that land on the rocks wont grow because the roots will not be establsihed into soft dirt.
6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
the sun burnt up the seed and it withered before it had a chance.
7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
some seeds grew but were choked out by thorns
8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
some seeds took root and grew putting off different amounts of fruit.
9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
these are spiritual ears he was trying to say here but i dont think the people understood it yet.
10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
I am seeing the disciples here as the original sowers of seed and Jesus was trying to prepare the multitudes to recieve the Word of God in spirit and in truth.
Later in the next verses the parables are explained as the seed being the Word of God. I dont think the disciples were something better than the multitudes like some special secret thing, but rather they would be the first to understand and be original sowers of the Gospel of Jesus and be first in understanding what the kingdom of heaven is about.
After someone else posts on this we can go into the next verses
it will be interesting seeing the interpretations.

Re: Matt 13 Parables
A preacher went to deliver a sermon
The word he hope would be heard and understood by all.
One person heard the sermon but quickly forgot it upon leaving the church and walking back into his worldly life style.
One person heard the sermon and rushed out all fired up with a DO IT attitude but within a very short time lost his incentive for one reason or another.
One person heard the sermon but he was only there because he had been made to come and so he left the word having no affect on his life what so ever
Most people who heard the sermon left feeling blessed took this sermon and used it in there everyday life shared it with others and taught it to there children.
The end result was what was preached to a few had a profound affect on many.
A couple of key words in this parable "some" and "the other" The sower if he had any brains at all was aiming at the Good Ground the "some" that landed in places where it would not grow was what we would call a calculated risk making sure the seed was spread to every inch of good ground "some" landed in thorns rocks etc. But the majority "the other" if the sower was doing his job right landed on good ground and did not go to waste.
The idea of the differences in the fruit produced is a brilliant additive. Depending on where in the field "good ground" the seed lands will determine how much it will produce. Look at fields of our modern crops and you will see differences in the hight and growth of the same field based on things like water supply i.e. (How close to irrigation sprinklers etc.) shade these type of things affect and have to be accounted for in order to make the most of a harvest.
I am a farm kid I like these

One other short Note that I feel is awesome about this chapter

Jesus had good reasons for doing this. As an electronics sound tech I can enlighten you with one good reason for this.
Sound is carried farther and amplified naturely over water. The Sound waves literaly skip off of the waters surface and are increased in size. Being in the boat He could be heard much better than if he would had stayed on land and preached towards the water.
Jesus used natural amplification in one other location the mount of olives. It holds cool underground springs and also has a amplyfing ability because of the underground caverns and water sources of that particular area. Kind of like a natural amplitheater. I see these choices in locations to preach as just another wittness to His profound wisdom in all ares of life and nature.

Yah. I never thought of that. Most likely the Mt of Olives was like an ampitheatre where everyone could hear him, similiar to the sitting out near the water it would carry his voice. Nice
12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
17 For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.
19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. 23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

Re: Matt 13 Parables
12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
Not sure about this. Maybe it is in reference to the fruit?
13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
or the seed in the parables...the people do not hear or see with spiritual eyes and ears, so it is a waste of time for him to try and explain it.?. they only hear what they want to hear.
14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
some hear it but do not get it, they see it but do not percieve what is being said.
15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
i think this is the seed (Word of the Lord) that does not grow because the heart does not recieve. spiritual ears and eyes that that stay closed to the truth. if people would recieve the Word of God, then Jesus is able to heal the heart.
16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
I think there is something special on his disciples for the hearts were able to hear what he is saying and not just bounce off the rocks and wither.
17 For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
the prophets and righteous have desired and wanted to see and hear but they have not.
18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.
19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
this is where the Word of God goes forth and before it gets a chance to sink in, the devil (wicked one), comes along with a different message to alter the truth and the good seed dies and is replaced with something different.
20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
2117 euthus yoo-thoos' perhaps from 2095 and 5087; straight, i.e. (literally) level, or (figuratively) true; adverbially (of time) at once:--anon, by and by, forthwith, immediately, straightway.
it seems there is a comparison here for those who recieve it. on the stone it just sits there and does not root, but wih anon- straight forward and immediately it settles in.
21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
not sure here?. i think these are the ones who take the word and not root in themselves, so when they are persecuted or have tribulations they are offended because it goes against the word.
or it could be the other way around too.?.
22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
some seed went among the thorn and there cares fot this life and selfishness choke out the seed/word at is tries to take root. so they are decieved by the cares of this life and they bare no fruit (fruit of the spirit)
23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
these are the people with a good fertile heart who gladly recieve, they HEAR and UNDERSTAND, they bear fruit.
still not sure why the different amounts of increase. 100/60/30

Re: Matt 13 Parables
anyone else who loves the teachings of Jesus jump in anytime. that is what these parables were taught for and why Jesus came. for EVERYONE.
PARABLE OF THE MUSTARD SEED
31 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:
32 Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.
33 Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.
34 All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them:
35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world. 36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.
A BURIED TREASURE
43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
THE PEARL OF GREAT PRICE
45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

Re: Matt 13 Parables
only thing I can think for why he spoke only to the crowds in parables is because the people just did not care or they just would not GET IT, no matter how hard he tried.
He was most definately different with the disciples. He must have known they would hear him and grasp what he was saying, so they could later teach the people, after the Holy Ghost was given. Interesting he told them the end of the tares and the wheat, but would not give it to the people.
45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
through repitition...this kingdom is unto someone in business who wants the best of the best and searches for the best deal.
46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
when he found the most valuable thing he merchandised, he sold eveything and bought it. so the kingdom of heaven is what we want to be in more important than anything the world can offer or sell to us.

I think what he is saying here is that those who understand will be given an abundance of wisdom, but to those who don't understand, they'll be left in utter confusion. I think that comment is sort of a prelude to his entire message.

Maybe he was trying to make the crowd think for itself. Y'know, instead of standing up there just lecturing, maybe he was trying to get everyone involved in his sermon. Plus, weren't there kids in the audience? Could've been a great way to catch their attention.

Re: Matt 13 Parables
Dear Bandit
1 The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.
he comes outside and hangs by the sea
2 And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.
there was a lot of people coming to visit him and he climbed into one of the ships and kind of seperated himself from the crowd that was on shore.
3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; [color=blue]a sower plants a garden.
He is planting his seed of truth
4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up: some of the birds ate the seeds
Truth falls by the way side when people do not listen, the fowls degraded his truth but same ate/swollowed his wisdom.
5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:
Earth represents being grounded, stony being cold, so here I feel he is referring to cold and ungrounded people with no depth to them, for they only see the surface and not the true meaning.
the seeds that land on the rocks wont grow because the roots will not be establsihed into soft dirt.
Here he is talking about the foundations of the person not being solid as rock and so the roots cannot be established in this foundation. Soft dirt can also be understood to be new dirt e.g. new believers of other things maybe.
6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
The sun as been a symbol of GOD to all the ancient people's and so the word of GOD, the truth scorched them because they had not root belief in GOD.
the sun burnt up the seed and it withered before it had a chance.
As above
7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them: some seeds grew but were choked out by thorns
Thorns have two different meanings symbolically, 1. Obstacles, 2. Thorny people who have not healed themselves and so their own issues and negative perceptions choked the truth for them. Interesting that 'choked' is also connected to the throat and communication. In the levels of consciousness it is 'I am blessed' and so it is they were not able to see how blessed they were to receive these teachings from Jesus and they did not communicate their gratitude due to their own character/personality.
8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. some seeds took root and grew putting off different amounts of fruit.
Good foundations of goodness brought good outcomes, when seeds of truth take root on good ground, the goodness of truth is recognised and the tree begins to grow and many branches grow upon the tree and many leaves upon the branches and then then the tree bears fruit. This fruit then takes its seed and plants it elsewhere and the process starts all over again.
9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.these are spiritual ears he was trying to say here but i dont think the people understood it yet.
Yes ears that were to open to hearing his word.
10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? 11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
Jesus says 'but to them it is not given' it is clear not through the disciples either for even the disciples did not know all, because Jesus taught things to Mary and Thomas he did not share with the others and this is shown in the gospels.

This is a perfect and wonderful example of how Jesus understood the harmonics of the universe and the natural spiritual laws.
"In the beginning was the WORD" That is the most powerful statement that was ever made; it holds a secret of the universe. Word is sound and sounds are vibrational frequencies. I recommend a book by David Tame called 'The Secret Power of Sound'.
And Dr Emoto who as discovered that water holds memory www.hado.net. so another aspect is that with Jesus given his address on water, the water would also hold his message for all time.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful insight.
Blessings in abundance

Re: Matt 13 Parables
lol Jesus is the WORD.
lovgoß = Logos
Noun Masculine
In John, denotes the essential Word of God, Jesus Christ, the personal wisdom and power in union with God, his minister in creation and government of the universe, the cause of all the world's life both physical and ethical, which for the procurement of man's salvation put on human nature in the person of Jesus the Messiah, the second person in the Godhead, and shone forth conspicuously from His words and deeds.
A Greek philosopher named Heraclitus first used the term Logos around600 B.C. to designate the divine reason or plan which coordinates a changing universe. This word was well suited to John's purpose in John 1.
The KJV New Testament Greek Lexicon
Try reading it as a whole rather than a verse in a chapter..
In the beginning was the Word (Logos), and the Word (Logos) was with God, and the Word (Logos) was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, "This was He of whom I said, 'He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.' " And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.

1. Was this not first mentioned in Genesis and was Genesis not pre 600BC? I think you might also find it was also mentioned by Enoch too.
2. Yes and when we research the meaning of (logos) it is written that it literally means 'reason' 'meaning' which also is intent. Intent is the will that creates the reason, reason then creates the thought and the reasoning which then creates the word.
To the metaphysician, healer, and cutting edge scientist, divine intent is the will-to-good of harmony – the harmonic concordance of the universe; otherwise known as the symphony of creation, which emerges with a vibration of energetic correspondence, patterns, cycles, and spheres of existence, in addition to different dimensional reality and consciousnesses.
The first principles of the design and architectural blue print gives every energy a reason for being, each aspect is interrelated and interdependent. To live in harmonic relationship with the energy of all creation, one needs to have a positive balance in one’s own life. Positive feelings are harmonically compatible with the universe and keep the universe and our being in balance energetically. Positivity also creates an improved design and a higher state of consciousness due to the bio-electromagnetics of intent and will. It is the first cause and part of the natural law of the first cause and effect.
Matter is the effect of spiritual laws put in place by GOD and these natural laws self-regulate the nature of being.
3. Moses received commandments but Jesus understood the laws, for the Grace and Truth inspired him. Jesus said 'blessed are the pure of heart for they shall see GOD'.
Gen.1:3 And GOD said let there will light and there was light and GOD saw the light, that it was good.
All light is vibration, light is sound and sound creates colour and colour emanates different vibrational frequencies.
Now where it gets interesting is where GOD says
Gen.1:26 GOD said, Let US make man in OUR image after OUR likeness.
So who is US and OUR? If not the divine feminine and divine masculine?
Love beyond measure

Re: Matt 13 Parables
hee hee I usually do Faithful . But the parables are different. then even more different when he explains the true meaning to the disciples.
we understand it now because we are IN, but i am just wondering he must have realized the crowds were not IN (yet), so if he tried to explain it in detail it would have been a waste of his time. they would not have gotten it. But later after the Holy Ghost was given, they would have got it, just like we do today. It was like he was speaking to little children and that crossed my mind when Knightoftherose mentioned children in the crowds. nevertheless they knew there was something true in his teaching.
I mean Faith, smallest herb seed, biggest shrub- all makes sense and is very basic. But these people were dull of hearing. Kind of like he could only go so far with them at that time.
Everytime I read the parables I see something new in them. The parable to the crowds were different than the ones to the disciples. But these very same parables were expounded on greatly later in the letters and teaching of the Apostles. you know how the bible is...everytime you come back to something it is expounded on.
I think what I am seeing is, there was nothing different about the disciples understanding than the crowds. It was a matter of the Apostles would go first. Even the apostles realized what he was doing. It is the same thing today. Anyone can understand it if they want to.
Then toward the end he prayed. This was for the disciples. it was like Jesus was first, then these disciples, then the people would enter in through the teaching and keeping of what Jesus said and did.
17:6I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.
17:7Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.
17:8For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.
17:9I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
17:10And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.
17:11And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
17:12While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
17:13And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
17:14I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
So what do you all think the increase of 100fold/60/30 was about? Why such a different margin?

I think what he is saying here is that those who understand will be given an abundance of wisdom, but to those who don't understand, they'll be left in utter confusion. I think that comment is sort of a prelude to his entire message.

I think you are right about this Knight

Thorns have two different meanings symbolically, 1. Obstacles, 2. Thorny people who have not healed themselves and so their own issues and negative perceptions choked the truth for them. Interesting that 'choked' is also connected to the throat and communication. In the levels of consciousness it is 'I am blessed' and so it is they were not able to see how blessed they were to receive these teachings from Jesus and they did not communicate their gratitude due to their own character/personality.

This looks good too Star. I like the part about the stone(y) ground and soft ground. A cold stoney heart is not going to let the seed grow very long and then it dies off.

So what do you all think the increase of 100fold/60/30 was about? Why such a different margin? For some reason I am only seeing it in the literal, that is from experience growing a lot of things from seeds.
Even though they are all planted purposely equally and firmly, some of the seed still does not grow-like it is missing the germination or reproduction.
Star I read yours too but that is just for one tree. I am seeing that not all the seed reproduces equally and I am wondering why. anyone else? when you have time. Thanx
