is this reasonable?

I think that god is a dangerous term to throw around. We just assume that we should look at the world in terms of god, or in terms of a being that people refer to as god. But there is no reason to assume we should even be thinking about reality on these terms. Hopefully, if a sentient being is controlling any aspect of our existence, it loves us, and hopefully that word love means "to be nice to unconditionally"... and hopefully nice is defined as not hurt us or torture us or allow any harm to come to us no matter what, unconditionally.

Re: is this reasonable?

shadowman,

You are overgeneralizing. Not everyone does as you have described. I do not look at the world in terms of god, or in terms of a being that people refer to as god.

This, however, is the value of a comparative religions forum. We get a chance to see how other people perceive reality, in a way different than our own.

Re: is this reasonable?

Shadow...I don't see G-d as a "micromanager" Things in G-d's universe happen in certain ways to "throw" things at us for us to handle in order to move forward in time. Those who can't, or won't, or refuse to do that won't have their DNA survive into the future.

I believe that G-d, since we are made in G-d's image and likeness, wants that to happen for as many of us as possible on a continuing basis. I don't believe that G-d can do anything in all of this except to start good things for us, and then simply love us and our efforts. But then... that's exactly what G-d is supposed to do and be isn't it ?
