Iomharr's Intro

Hello to the board,

I am a 30-something, happily married Asatruar. I love thinking about religion and learning about all the different belief systems. Looks like a nice forum you have here so I thought I'd join.

Hi and welcome to CR

Grey, Asatru is a Scandinavian brand of polytheism.

Namaste and ditto,

That is welcome and can you provide us some info as to how, where and how many Asatruars worship in your locale. You will be expanding our horizons!

To my knowledge there are 50-100 Asatruar in my area, a major North American city. There are probably more who practice alone without a kindred. Modern Asatru is only about thirty years old so naturally there aren't very many of us at this time.

One usually learns about Asatru over the internet, practices alone for a while then seeks out others to join or form a group. Though membership in a kindred isn't necessary.

The kindred I belong to (10 regular members) meets once a month for worship. Though we try to meet more often to socialize. There is also a parents' group which meets monthly.

It's a -new- (mid 70's) religious movement which focus on bringing back the norse ways of the viking age... Basically just another form of Paganism.

But anyway, back to the clothing... Sadly yes some do lol... I am not sure if all do the dress up thing, (bit like the Masons) But I know some do. Sorry, I have only a bit of knowledge of them.
