I finished my website. It is just in the testing stage to make sure it works ok and then I can launch.

What do you think?

Hi Sal...Goldfish Rule !!! I really like what you've created. Here's a toast (sparkling non-alcoholic juice of course) to your impending success and intended co-operative in Egypt ! Please keep us up to date as it goes along.

Salaam MW....flow....

Re: I finished

Thank you guys, I am glad people like the goldfish, I was worried people wouldn't 'get' it.

Does life get much better? After months of hard work my site is finished and now my husband is here and in 2 weeks inshallah I will go home. I am one very happy person.

Re: I finished

IMO you need to move away from Proboards ASAP and host the forums yourself - Proboards can delete your community without notice or consequence, and I've seen this happen before with other free forum providers when a forum gets too active.

Look at options such as MyBB or SMF if you're on a budget - they're free - or vbulletin if you want to go the whole hog.

Either way, I strongly recommend no serious business ever host a major part of their site with a free hosting provider, because all it offers is risk of loss of data. You need to have full control on that IMO.

Feel free to ask in Platinax if you need more help with forums, not least implementing anti-spam measures.

Re: I finished

Oh thanks Brian, I shall come across and ask. The forum was just a temporary one until the addon was written but I didn't know they could do that so will have a rethink.

Re: I finished

It's the big reason why I moved to hosting my own forums - any questions, feel free to ask.

Re: I finished

Salaam MW...I'm so glad you're back to your desert home. I know that it's a good place for you. Also happy for your "faster" connection. Maybe someone was listening and decided to fulfill your wishes.

Visited your site the other day and was so happy to see that there are four pages of members now. I'd say that's pretty good growth numbers for a two week period over the holidays when people are usually more engrossed with family things as opposed to personal pursuits. Onward and upward m'lady.

flow....

Re: I finished

wa aleykum salaam Flow

Thank you so much for your interest. Yes I am very pleased with the start up. It was a hard decision to go the less travelled road and not 'invent' profiles to make numbers up. It means a number of people have looked, decided there aren't enough members and not joined but long term I hope the honest approach will work in my favour. Most of my time at the moment is dealing with glitches, which were inevitable but so far easily solved. I hate to even imagine what I could achieve with a decent marketing budget but we work with what we have and so far all the members have come from one small press release in my local paper.

I wish I could say I was really excited to be home but so far I have had stomach problems because the water filter is broken, a nasty lingering cold and for 3 days now also rotten toothache - I will feel much happier when my body readjusts. It is wonderful to hear the mosque call us to prayer again, I missed that so much.

Of course now I am back here I am missing my Mum & Dad - there is just no pleasing some people.
