Happy thread

I wanted to have a happy thread. There are so many about the lunacy of war, politics, global warming, extinction, fighting about religion, etc. It is all too depressing, so I want a thread I can come to for nothing but happy thoughts.

17th pass the joint this way!! (only kidding, I'm not allowed).

Todays happiness lesson:

Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony. (Ghandi)

Shared joy is a double joy; shared sorrow is half sorrow. (Swedish proverb)

Salaam

What is your happy thought or lesson?

Re: Happy thread

The means to gain happiness is to throw out from oneself like a spider in all directions an adhesive web of love, and to catch in it all that comes.
Leo Tolstoy (1828 - 1910)

Oh Wil they are fabulous thank you, I have never read Tolstoy (I know a gaping great hole in my education ) but I shall remedy that now having read those quotes. I love this one:

The man whose only goal is his own happiness is bad; he whose goal is the good opinion of others is weak; he whose goal is the happiness of others is good; he whose goal is God, is great!...

and this one:

A human can be healthy without killing animals for food. Therefore if he eats meat he participates in taking animal life merely for the sake of his appetite.

I thank You God for most this amazing
day:for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky; and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes

Re: Happy thread

I suppose Forrest Gump would say, "happiness is as happiness does".

What made me happy today was to bake five large loaves of whole grain bread and a fruit pie, and then share them with my mother and neighbors.
Make a living thing into something that nourishes others that you care about, and in that way you are passing "life" around...eh ? Kind words, smiles, and hugs do the same thing on another level.

flow....

You don't know whatcha missin'!!!
Mmm, good! Feels good! Is good! Real good! Tastes good! Mighty good! Good for you! Good for me!lol anyways.....

My thought/lesson on happy? I was going to perhaps quote someone else as someone has already said it better... But, thought I can't be bothered... lol... To be happy, you need to live in a happy surronding so share the feeling be good and happy to others and it will rub off and stain them..... Feel good on the inside and outside.... Glow from within..... To make another person happy is an awesome way to feel good yourself finally live for today.... Don't live for the past or live for the future for something you know may or may not be there.... Do what you can and that's it I'll leave with some latin..... Illegitmis Nil Carborundum.....

Suppose it could be in the realm of fun or interesting, but it happiness...I don't know. Now if it were some kinda competition...

Now these three are interesting quotes regarding happiness,
to me they are similar to it isn't the destination but the journey...

The happiness and unhappiness of the rational, social animal depends not on what he feels but on what he does; just as his virtue and vice consist not in feeling but in doing.
Marcus Aurelius
(121 - 180)

If you wait for the perfect moment when all is safe and assured, it may never arrive. Mountains will not be climbed, races won, or lasting happiness achieved.
Maurice Chevalier
(1888 - 1972)

Happiness, in this world, if it comes at all, comes incidentally. Make it the object of pursuit, and it leads us on a wild-goose chase, and it is never attained.
Nathaniel Hawthorne (1804 - 1864)

Re: Happy thread

Todays happy thought:

I was definately not having a happy day today, my mind full of doom and gloom. The biting autumn wind arrived today, so I snuggled up on the sofa in thick socks, big jumper, a hot cup of tea and logged on to my friends at CR ....... then I saw this:

It made me smile and turned my day from unhappy to happy. Friendship, that is my happy thought for today. A relative stranger in another part of the world can type 4 words and change your day completely. It can make you remember that simplicity is often the key to happiness and that a few words from you can change a persons mood for good or bad - so be nice. Thanks Snoop

And 17ths amazing Islamic greeting - I am so blessed with my friends here, alhamdolillah. Wa aleykum salaam wr wb, enta tamam sadeeqy.

Thanks all for your happy thoughts.

Flow you bake bread!! I am great with cakes and pastry but my bread is only good for building houses or in desperation it may be used, to great effect, as a defensive weapon.

Salaam
