Re: Happy B-Day Bananabrain!

ok wil...please translate the beautiful graphic for us laypeople. Is this a Hebrew zodiacal chart or map of some kind? Is it the zodiacal symbol denoting Pisceans ?

I'd also like to know why the triangles superimposed upon each other to make the six-pointed star are of differing colors, red and blue. What symbolic significance is represented by this if you are aware of it ? If you've read the fiction I've posted in the lounge you'll understand my curiosity. By the way, the drapings of the tabernacle in the desert at Shiloh were trimmed with red and blue tassellings. Of course red and blue together denotes purple, the royal color.

Now when our beloved BB said this, I couldn't help but think of the Star of David...and that that is one heck of a 'star' sign for Judaism. So in the process of doing a google image search I happened across this page with this 'pretty picture' that's all I got...someone else will have to translate, refute, dispute or verify as it is all greek to me.

Re: Happy B-Day Bananabrain!

It looks like the image is off the website of an astrologer and I'm guessing the star shown is just a minor aspect pattern on a chart. I looked it up and found a minor aspect called "the star" that is a six-sided star. It's done a little differently but the notes say "The STAR symbolizes the presence of very special gifts and talents which can be used easily and in alignment with Universal trends." That's from the appendix of Choice Centered Astrology by Gail Fairfield.

Astrology did become a part of Judaism, probably due to Babylonian influence and is practiced by some people in Israel and the Diaspora. But Judaism's understanding of its influence or how the influence can be broken is a bit different. Let me grab my references: can't find them. But basically certain activities like changing one's name or doing tzedakah could effect one's mazal. And there are other opinions that it doesn't have any effect.
