God incarnate
hello everyone
in the old testament in the early stories God is spoken of as if He has human form.....God created man in his own image....God walking in the garden etc. then in christianity we have son of God (who is maybe also God himself). we have so many arguments between jews, christians and muslims about the nature of God, monotheism, who was or wasn't jesus. personally i could better understand that God could be capable of putting some part of himself into human form in order to better communicate with us whilst still remaining God the omnipresent and omnipotent rather than "the only begotten son of the father" which i find rather a difficult concept to comprehend. is it possible that the God of adam and the early peoples was God incarnate and that jesus might have been that same God incarnate? i've got a horrible feeling that i don't know what i'm talking about . it souded like a good idea when i started to write it. anyway i'll go ahead and post it and see what comments i get. please excuse me if i've offended anyone's beliefs....no intention to do so. |

Re: God incarnate
i could give you some of my beliefs on this, but it has been popping up here quite often lately & i am kind of burned out on it.
if the other ways, people see it, do not work for you all the way through, you can send me a PM someday, & I will talk to you about it. |

Re: God incarnate
Dayaa
In the NT. we are told that no one has ever heard or seen the Father. Joh 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.(KJV) Joh 5:37And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.(KJV) Joh 6:46Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.(KJV) There is a post we had going on about this not too long ago at Who was called "God"(Heb. 'elohim) or "the LORD"(Heb. YHVH) who appeared in the O.T? I personally believe it was the pre incarnate Christ. |

Re: God incarnate
Most Christians recognize that Jesus is God.. We know that Jesus is "the Word" [John 1:1], and that no one has ever seen the Father [John 6:46, 1:18]. Since Jesus is the image of the invisible God [Colossians 1:15], then if anyone at anytime has seen God, then we should expect that they saw the image of the invisible God, the Word, Jesus.
Consider the following people who saw the LORD [Yahweh] in the Old Testament Hagar [Gen 16:7-13] Abraham [Gen 18-19:1] Jacob [Genesis 32:28--see Hosea 12:3-5] Moses [Exodus 33:11] Joshua [Joshua 5:13-6:2] Gideon [Judges 6:11-23] Manoah [Judges 13:2-22] Isaiah [Isaiah 6:5] Job [Job 42:5] Who did they see? It was not God the Father [John 1:18; 6:46], so it must be the visual image of the GodHead John 5:37 And the Father Himself, who sent Me, has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form John 6:46 Not that anyone has seen the Father, except He who is from God; He has seen the Father. |
