Re: Free discussion of historical facts and their implications

Some people come to CR simply because they think it should be used as their personal promotional vehicle. We've had a couple of "prophets" come this way before demanding similar rights, and they get kicked out for it.

Funny I had similar idea today to make a "create your own religion" thread in the Philosophy section.

I always understood CR to be a not-for-prophet organization...

Well i see little difference whether someone pushes their very own formulated ideas or those of some established orthodoxy. At least the former shows some creativity!! Speaking for myself, i found he approached what he wanted to do with honesty and deserved a fair hearing.

So, PP knows that if he posts his prophecy he'll be banned, but he starts a thread advertising that he's going to post his prophecy. That's pretty disingenuous. Classic bait and switch.

Absolutely, and a couple of the most prominent ones are moderators.

Then why are you kicking them?

I do see a bait and switch: All the signs said comparative-religion.

How is it that I can argue with someone about Raelian Geniocracy on CR, but that I am censored from this? Is a proclaimed prophet really a threat?

To bring it back into the context of an Abrahamic religion, I recall an important verse that says jointly what Prophets and Law hang by. I find that golden rule gets upheld every time.

No, a proclaimed prophet is no threat. A pain in the ass, but not a threat. I had the distinct impression from the beginning that we weren't going to get the prophecy, though. In the end we got a link to this person's website. All in all it's no worse than Dondi selling coffee beans. La dee da..., prophets are a dime a dozen.

Of course they are.....history is full of them. I think it very likely that he and Dondi had something in common.....beans.....but it would have been nice to have the opportunity to find out. Perhaps we should nail him to a cross, maybe then he might be allowed to......I was going to say finish....but infact start is the right word. He may be a prophet!!! But even if he is not he may have had some interesting things to say and may have sparked some discussion....which is the point of these threads. Thats a lot of may's and I DO know we are in June now.
