Re: Favorite Song Lyrics
TE I love that song! The Sounds of Silence... it's so haunting...
I have two more: The Drugs Don't Work by The Verve All this talk of getting old It's getting me down my love Like a cat in a bag, waiting to drown This time i'm comin' down And i hope you're thinking of me As you lay down on your side Now the drugs don't work They just make you worse But i know i'll see your face again Now the drugs don't work They just make you worse But i know i'll see your face again But i know i'm on a losing streak 'cause i passed down my old street And if you wanna show, then just let me know And i'll sing in your ear again Now the drugs don't work They just make you worse But i know i'll see your face again 'cause baby, ooh, if heaven calls, i'm coming, too Just like you said, you leave my life, i'm better off dead All this talk of getting old It's getting me down my love Like a cat in a bag, waiting to drown This time i'm comin' down Now the drugs don't work They just make you worse But i know i'll see your face again 'cause baby, ooh, if heaven calls, i'm coming, too Just like you said, you leave my life, i'm better off dead But if you wanna show, just let me know And i'll sing in your ear again Now the drugs don't work They just make you worse But i know i'll see your face again Yeah, i know i'll see your face again Yeah, i know i'll see your face again Yeah, i know i'll see your face again Yeah, i know i'll see your face again I'm never going down, i'm never coming down No more, no more, no more, no more, no more I'm never coming down, i'm never going down No more, no more, no more, no more, no more (repeat and fade out) Last edited by Miss Amy : 05-24-2007 at 03:17 PM. The real "Space Cowboy" lyrics
Steve Miller I told you bout living in the u.s. of a. Dont you know that Im a gangster of love Let me tell you people that I found a new way And Im tired of all this talk about love And the same old story with a new set of words About the good and the bad and the poor And the times keep on changin So Im keepin on top Of every fat cat who walks through my door Im a space cowboy Bet you werent ready for that Im a space cowboy Im sure you know where its at Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah I was born on this rock And Ive been travelin through space Since the moment I first realized What all you fast talkin cats would do if you could You know, Im ready for the final surprise There aint no way around it Aint nothing to say Thats gonna satisfy my soul deep inside All the prayers and surveyors Keep the whole place uptight While it keeps on gettin darker outside Im a space cowboy Bet you werent ready for that Im a space cowboy Im sure you know where its at Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah I see the show downs, slow downs, lost and found, turn arounds The boys in the military shirts I keep my eyes on the prize, on the long fallen skies And I dont let my friends get hurt All you back room schemers, small trip dreamers Better find something new to say Cause youre the same old story Its the same old crime And you got some heavy dues to pay Im a space cowboy Bet you werent ready for that Im a space cowboy Im sure you know where its at Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Yes, the other lyrics were that of "The Joker", which referenced this 1969 song. |

Song: Orange sky Album: [" " CD] Well I had a dream I stood beneath an orange sky Yes I had a dream I stood beneath an orange sky With my brother standing by With my brother standing by I said Brother, you know you know It’s a long road we’ve been walking on Brother you know it is you know it is Such a long road we’ve been walking on And I had a dream I stood beneath an orange sky With my sister standing by With my sister standing by I said Sister, here is what I know now Here is what I know now Goes like this.. In your love, my salvation lies In your love, my salvation lies In your love, my salvation lies In your love, in your love, in your love But sister you know I’m so weary And you know sister My hearts been broken Sometimes, sometimes My mind is too strong to carry on Too strong to carry on When I am alone When I’ve thrown off the weight of this crazy stone When I've lost all care for the things I own That's when I miss you, that's when I miss you, that's when I miss you You who are my home You who are my home And here is what I know now Here is what I know now Goes like this.. In your love, my salvation lies In your love, my salvation lies In your love, my salvation lies In your love, my salvation lies In your love, my salvation lies In your love, my salvation lies In your love, my salvation lies In your love, in your love, in your love Well I had a dream I stood beneath an orange sky Yes I had a dream I stood beneath an orange sky With my brother and my sister standing by With my brother and my sister standing by With my brother and my sister standing by I LOVETHIS SONG SO MUCH |

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics
This song cracks me up.
Ticks Brad Paisley Every time you take a sip In this smoky atmosphere You press that bottle to your lips And I wish I was your beer In the small there of your back Your jeans are playing peekaboo I'd like to see the other half of your butterfly tattoo. Hey that gives me an idea Let's get out of this bar Drive out into the country And find a place to park. 'Cause I'd like to see you out in the moonlight I'd like to kiss you way back in the sticks I'd like to walk you through a field of wildflowers And I'd like to check you for ticks. I know the perfect little path Out in these woods I used to hunt Don't worry babe I've got your back And I've also got your front Now, I'd hate to waste a night like this I'll keep you safe you wait and see The only thing allowed to crawl all over you when we get there is me. You know every guy in here tonight Would like to take you home But I've got way more class than them Babe that ain't what I want. 'Cause I'd like to see you out in the moonlight I'd like to kiss you way back in the sticks I'd like to walk you through a field of wildflowers And I'd like to check you for ticks. You never know where one might be There's lots of place that are hard to reach I gotcha. I'd like to see you out in the moonlight I'd like to kiss you baby way back in the sticks I'd like to walk you through a field of wildflowers And I'd like to check you for ticks. I'd sure like to check you for ticks... |

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics
Eminem (I hate this kid normally... but....) - Mosh. (video is good too.)
"Mosh" I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America And to the Republic for which it stands One nation under god Indivisible with liberty and justice for all... It feels so good to be back.. I scrutinize every word, memorize every line I spit it once, refuel, re-energize and rewind I give sight to the blind, my insight through the mind I exercise my right to express when I feel it's time It's just all in your mind, what you interpret it as I say to fight, you take it as I'mma whip someone's ass If you don't understand, don't even bother to ask A father who has grown up with a fatherless past Who has blown up now to rap phenomenon that has Or at least shows no difficulty multi-task And in juggling both perhaps mastered his craft Slash entrepreneur who has helped launch a few more rap acts Who's had a few obstacles thrown his way through the last half Of his career typical manure moving past that Mr. kisses ass crack, he's a class act Rubber band man, yea he just snaps back [Chorus:] Come along follow me as I lead through the darkness As I provide just enough spark that we need to proceed Carry on, give me hope, give me strength Come with me and I won't steer you wrong Put your faith and your trust as I guide us through the fog To the light at the end of the tunnel We gonna fight, we gonna charge, we gonna stomp, we gonna march Through the swamp, we gonna mosh through the marsh Take us right through the doors (c'mon) All the people up top on the side and the middle Come together lets all bomb and swamp just a little Just let it gradually build from the front to the back All you can see is a sea of people some white and some black Don't matter what color, all that matters we gathered together To celebrate for the same cause don't matter the weather If it rains let it rain, yea the wetter the better They ain't gonna stop us they can't, we stronger now more than ever They tell us no we say yea, they tell us stop we say go Rebel with a rebel yell, raise hell we gonna let em know Stomp, push, shove, mush, **** Bush, until they bring our troops home (c'mon) [Chorus] Imagine it pouring, it's raining down on us Mosh pits outside the oval office Someone's tryina tell us something, Maybe this is god just sayin' we're responsible For this monster, this coward, That we have empowered This is Bin Laden, look at his head noddin' How could we allow something like this without pumping our fists Now this is our final hour Let me be the voice in your strength and your choice Let me simplify the rhyme just to amplify the noise Try to amplify the times it, and multiply by six... Teen million people, Are equal at this high pitch Maybe we can reach alqueda through my speech Let the president answer a higher anarchy Strap him with an Ak-47, let him go, fight his own war Let him impress daddy that way No more blood for oil, we got our own battles to fight on our own soil No more psychological warfare, to trick us to thinking that we ain't loyal If we don't serve our own country, we're patronizing a hero Look in his eyes its all lies The stars and stripes, they've been swiped, washed out and wiped And replaced with his own face, Mosh now or die If I get sniped tonight you know why, Cause I told you to fight. [Chorus] And as we proceed, To Mosh through this desert storm, In these closing statements, if they should argue Let us beg to differ As we set aside our differences And assemble our own army To disarm this Weapon of Mass Destruction That we call our President, for the present And Mosh for the future of our next generation To speak and be heard Mr. President, Mr. Senator Do you guy's hear us...hear us...[laughing] (Hailie) |

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics
A Different World
Bucky Covington "We were born to mothers who smoked and drank Our cribs were covered in lead-based paint No childproof lids No seatbelts in cars Rode bikes with no helmets and still here we are Still here we are We got daddy's belt when we misbehaved Had three TV channels you got up to change No video games and no satellite All we had were friends and they were outside Playing outside It was a different life When we were boys and girls Not just a different time It was a different world School always started the same everyday the pledge of allegiance, then someone would pray not every kid made the team when they tried We got disappointed but that was alright We turned out alright It was a different life When we were boys and girls Not just a different time It was a different world No bottled water We'd drink from a garden hose And every Sunday, All the stores were closed. It was a different life When we were boys and girls Not just a different time It was a different world It was a different life When we were boys and girls Not just a different time It was a different world It was a different world" Ah, I remember those days well. |

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics
Wondrous Stories
Yes I awoke this morning Love laid me down by the river Drifting I turned on upstream Bound for my forgiver In the giving of my eyes to see your face Sound did silence me Leaving no trace I beg to leave, to hear your wondrous stories Beg to hear your wondrous stories He spoke of lands not far Nor lands they were in his mind Of fusion captured high Where reason captured his time In no time at all he took me to the gate In haste I quickly checked the time If I was late I had to leave, to hear your wondrous stories Had to hear your wondrous stories Hearing Hearing hearing your wondrous stories Hearing your wondrous stories It is no lie I see deeply into the future Imagine everything, you're close And were you there to stand so cautiously at first And then so high As he spoke my spirit climbed into the sky I bid it to return To hear your wondrous stories Return to hear your wondrous stories Return to hear your wondrous stories Hearing Hearing Hearing Hearing Hearing |

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics
The Art of Dying
by George Harrison There'll come a time when all of us must leave here Then nothing sister Mary can do Will keep me here with you As nothing in this life that I've been trying Could equal or surpass the art of dying Do you believe me? There'll come a time when all your hopes are fading When things that seemed so very plain Become an awful pain Searching for the truth among the lying And answered when you've learned the art of dying But you're still with me But if you want it Then you must find it But when you have it There'll be no need for it There'll come a time when most of us return here Brought back by our desire to be A perfect entity Living through a million years of crying Until you've realized the Art of Dying Do you believe me? |

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics
I went to my daughters dance recital tonight and was mesmerized by the words of this song during one of the routines...
Artist/Band: Steiner Tommy Shane Lyrics for Song: What If She's An Angel Lyrics for Album: Then Came The Night There's a man standing on the corner With a sign sayin "will work for food" You know the man You see him every morning The one you never give your money to You can sit there with your window rolled up Wondering when the lights going to turn green Never knowing what a couple more bucks In his pocket might mean What if he's an angel sent here from Heaven And he's making certain that you're doing your best To take the time to help one another Brother are you going to pass that test You can go on with your day to day Trying to forget what you saw in his face Knowing deep down it could have been his saving grace What if he's an angel There's a man There's a woman Living right above you in apartment G There's alot of noise coming from the ceiling And it don't sound like harmony You can sit there with your TV turned up While the words and his anger fly Come tomorrow when you see her with her shades on Can you look her in the eye What if she's sent here from heaven And she's making certain that you're doing your best To take the time to help one another Brother are you going to pass that test You can go on with your day to day Trying to forget what you saw in her face Knowing deep down it could have been her saving grace What if she's an angel A little girl on daddy's lap Hiding her disease with a baseball cap You can turn the channel Most people do But what if you were sitting in her daddy's shoes Maybe she's an angel Sent here from Heaven And she's making certain you're doing your best To take the time to help one another Brother are you going to pass that test You can go on with your day to day Trying to forget what you saw in her face Knowing deep down it could have been her saving grace What if she's an angel |

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics
EL ECO (Mary Was An Only Child) Mary was an only child, Nobody held her, nobody smiled. She was born in a trailer, wretched and poor, And she shone like a gem in a five and dime store. Mary had no friends at all, Just famous faces pinned to the wall. All of them watched her, none of them saw That she shone like a gem in a five and dime store. And if you watch the stars at night, All of them shining equally bright, You might have seen Jesus and not have known what you saw. Who would notice a gem in a five and dime store? (Albert Hammond, Mike Hazlewood, and Jorge Milchberg) Recorded by Art Garfunkel. Angel Clare, 1971 |

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics
I love Joni Mitchell - and as I am a bit of a tree hugger, these lyrics are especially resonant. I remember visiting the old growth forests on Vanvouver Island over 10 years ago and being struck by their majesty - then seeing swathes of forest just clear cut - not for parking lots, but for someones decking more likely.
Big Yellow Taxi by Joni Mitchell They paved paradise And put up a parking lot With a pink hotel, a boutique And a swinging hot spot Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you've got Till it's gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot They took all the trees Put 'em in a tree museum And they charged the people A dollar and a half just to see 'em Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you've got Till it's gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot Hey farmer farmer Put away that DDT now Give me spots on my apples But leave me the birds and the bees Please! Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you've got Till it's gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot Late last night I heard the screen door slam And a big yellow taxi Took away my old man Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you've got Till it's gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot They paved paradise And put up a parking lot |
