There are so many great verses and it's so hard to choose, so here's a few of mine:

'Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.' (Matthew 6:34 NIV) - perfect for when you're totally stressing out over stuff, to remind you who is in control

'Are two sparrows not sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of the Father . . . so don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.' (Matthew 10:29 - 31 NIV) - no matter whether you feel scared , or hard done by , or sad , it's an amazing verse just for remembering how much God cares about you, and that no matter how you feel, he's looking after you all the time

'In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.' (John 16:33 NIV) - I suppose we all know the feeling of ridicule or persecution at the expense of our faith, so it's really encouragin to know that these petty things don't matter when the bigger picture is looked at

'Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourself fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labour in the Lord is not in vain.' (1 Corinthians 15:59 NIV) - reassurance when you need it

Hi Kaykay, welcome to CR!

Excellent selections; they certainly lifted my spirit tonight! Thank you.

Re: Favorite Bible Quotes

I'm very drawn to Psalm 145. These are some of my favourite parts

The LORD is gracious and
compassionate,
slow to anger and rich in love.
The LORD is good to all;
he has compassion on all he has made.

...The LORD is faithful to all his promises
and loving towards all he has made.
The LORD upholds all those who fall
and lifts up all who are bowed down.
The eyes of all look to you.

...he hears their cry and saves them.
The LORD watches over all who love
him.

He is counting the number of the stars All of them he calls by (their ) names...psalm 147;4

"Raise YOUR eyes high up and see. Who has created these things? It is the One who is bringing forth the army of them even by number, all of whom he calls even by name. Due to the abundance of dynamic energy, he also being vigorous in power, not one [of them] is missing....isaiah 40;26...wow what power Jehovah has , he is dynamic power ,and what a memory to name all the stars .

Re: Favorite Bible Quotes

A belated welcome, Mahud. Thank you for the Psalm. The LORD is indeed faithful.

Welcome rasifnajeeb. I'm going to guess by your commment that you are not a Trinitarian Christian. The Lord is indeed One, the Almighty, the All-Merciful; great quote. I would however gently request that we keep in the spirit of this thread of lifting each other up, rather than debating differences in doctrine. Whether Muslim, Jewish, or alternative/other, please feel free to share more of your favorites here.

peace,

Hi , Lunamoth He's one i read this morning, which i really like, from Ephesians (which is jam-packed full of awesome stuff, hehe)

Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offerring and sacrifice to God (5:1-2 niv)

Re: Favorite Bible Quotes

Hi Mee, thank you for this and your many other contributions to this thread. I must admit that I often find your posts a bit hard to sort out because you mix your own commments and Biblical quotes together without much differentiation. But that aside, I was curious to look at the larger context of the last quotes you selected.

Quote:
25"There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. 26Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. 27At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near." (Luke 21, NIV)
Quote:
1Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings. 2"Do you see all these things?" he asked. "I tell you the truth, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down."
3As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. "Tell us," they said, "when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?"
4Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. 5For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,[a]' and will deceive many. 6You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8All these are the beginning of birth pains.

...

29"Immediately after the distress of those days
" 'the sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light;
the stars will fall from the sky,
and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.'[c]

30"At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. 31And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.
(Matthew 24, NIV)

Not one, either. That is the mystery of God...

If in doubt, I suggest considering Genesis, the early chapters. Unless God is schizophrenic, or talking to angels (which I doubt on both counts), He's talking to others than He. He is also discussing issues in an equal term. "Let us make man in Our image, and likeness"...I believe is the phrase.

There is no room for doubt that God was speaking among equals to equals...as He has never implied man as an equal, nor angel.

Too much Honey comb sickens the stomach, and causes for children to go berzek (personal observation). Trying to get it can lead to many bee stings as well...

Does make for great candle wax however, which means one can see at night.

Re: Favorite Bible Quotes

this passage has been on my heart for a couple of weeks. It makes more sense when the whole chapter 3 is read because we must first bow our knee to the Lord Jesus, but these 4 verses are the highlight for me. it ties so many things together for me. love, the love of Christ, faith, knowledge, glory, strength from His might & the inner man being filled with the fulness of God.

Epesians3:16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
3:18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
3:19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
KJV

Oh ,sorry about that , i will hopefully try to do it better . some times i just quote the verses rather than putting the whole of the verses as it gets a bit long but i do believe that there is going to be a great tribulation that has never happened, nor will ever happen again and we can be delivered through and out of this great tribulation that will happen on a global scale but maybe that is for another thread as this is favourite bible verses
