I must look up the word pessimist one day.

Not to worry, even approaching the speed of light, It would take twenty some years to get there. Meanwhile the earth will have aged by 1500 years. By the time the crews returned with the raw materials, 3000 plus years will have passed on earth, and if we're still around, we'd probably look at them as a primitive curiosity ("and what is all the junk you brought back with you?")
edit: more reasons to give you hope. At 1.5 times the radius of Earth 1, Earth 2 would be five times the size of our Earth. So, a 100 lbs man would weigh over 500 lbs there, and instead of a realitively light 14.7 Psi atmospheric pressure, it would be greater than 60-75 Psi there (the equivelent of being 90-120 feet below the surface of the sea). So, once a crew got there, if they could survive any length of time and adapt to the new conditions, they could never really come back to Earth 1 for long. (they'd be physiologically altered). Sure they'd be five times stronger than us back here, but they'd have to wear a special "space suit" just to keep from suffering explosive decompression, or having their blood boil, or getting enough oxygen under pressure to even breath.
So, in short, it would be a one way trip.
