Do You Post at Work?
I could've made this a poll, but...whatever. Do you post to CR at work? About what percentage of your posts are made at work? If you post at work, do you feel that you are, in effect, stealing your employer's time and resources? How does this rank on your ethical scale?

Re: Do You Post at Work?
Ahem.
It is the policy of juantoo3 to neither confirm nor deny such rumors as might exist regarding posting while on duty.
Hypothetically, without admission to anything, it is possible that a rather large percentage of my posts might be made during my idle moments, and that while potentially using work resources to post at CR could be construed as "stealing one's employer's time and resources," it could also be said that by doing so one is able to maintain alertness during the wee hours of the morning when one would otherwise be prone to want for sleep, which would allow for one to better serve their employer and customers.
In short, my overriding philosophy is that as long as my work comes first, and is attended to without hesitation, and is completed in a timely manner, then my idle time is essentially mine so long as I do not deprive a co-worker the use of resource should such need arise. Functionally, what ethical difference between this and gossiping around the figurative water cooler (other than the use of electronic equipment)? Practically, I find the participants and conversations here more interesting than those around the figurative water cooler.
Besides, there are only about three sites that I might peruse, were I so inclined, two of which are educational and the third is hobby, none of which are purely commercial.

Who is stealing who's time? LOL... Nice one brother, I really enjoyed that joke thanks. I do ALL my work then post on here whenever I have something to say, I don't count posts, but the majority is from work I would guess. WHAT A MORNING SUNNY DAY!!

Re: Do You Post at Work?
I only have to work about 8 hours a day, but between my two hours on a commuter train (which is counted as flex time, I can use it for work or not as I please) and then the 8 hours at the office, I have 2 hours extra a day in flex time. I can either work all 10 (or 9) and bank the flex time for days off, or I can take breaks whenever I feel is necessary or I have a moment of down-time and do whatever else I want to do where ever I am at. Most of my job is reading, writing, and meeting with customers.
Generally speaking, I use time on the train to do reading for work, leaving me about 2 hours a day during office hours to do whatever (or to work and bank time). Following doctor's orders after a lot of stress-related issues, I often take little breaks to get out for a half-hour walk, visit an art gallery by my office, post to CR, or read something pleasurable. I just keep track of my breaks and deduct it from my overall time reported for the day.
I'm fortunate. My job is very flexible about this kind of thing, and most people in the company work in spurts like that, from my conversations with others. Plus, if I want a whole day off, I only have to work extra hours whenever I want and then take it. On the flip side, my output is typically time-sensistive. So, when I'm up against a deadline it is not uncommon for me to work a 12-13 hour day if some pieces for the work come in to me late from others.

Re: Do You Post at Work?
I have made no more than a dozen posts in total from work. I simply do not get the time to do so there. But I do have a personal policy of never taking work home with me and so virtually the first thing I do on getting home is catch up here and other sites I post on. I also regularly post if I am working from home or in the mornings before I leave for work.

Re: Do You Post at Work?
I 'spose I can't answer no, as I am at work.
as to the ethical question, it bothers me occasionally, but I get over it.
justifications...
I don't smoke, I don't take scheduled breaks, I don't take my full lunch time, I'm addicted, I give enough anyway, maybe it will be cause for dismissal, what's not to like?
