Do Sikhs Follow Yahweh?

Do Sikhs follow the God Yaweh, the God of Christians, Muslims, and Jews?

Re: Do Sikhs Follow Yahweh?

No, they don't. I don't think they have a god, like in buddhism.

That is not true. There core teachings is that they follow one God, like this article says,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sikhism

The core beliefs of Sikhism are belief in one God and the teachings of the Ten Gurus, enshrined in Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy book.

But since it is like both Islam and Hinduism, I wonder whether they follow Yaweh (muslims follow Yahweh). But do they?

Re: Do Sikhs Follow Yahweh?

Fateh,

Whether you call that One God Allah, Waheguru, Yahweh, Brahma, God or Raam, Sikhs still believe in that One God. The Guru Granth Sahib starts with Ek Oankar (literally meaning 1 God).

Also, most people naively assume that Sikhism is just a mish mash of Islam and Hinduism. While some concepts are similar, Sikhism is a revealed religion. When you read the Guru Granth Sahib, Guru Nanak makes this very clear (khasam ki bani - the word of God - www.srigranth.org). Unfortunately, as no one in the West has seriously studied Sikhism until very recently, most of the colonial views on this faith have persisted to this day.
