Dan Brown

Hi everyone. Im new here, but so far this site seems great.
I was just wondering what peoples opinions about Dan Brown were. In case you forgot, he is the author of some really good books, like the Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons. Both of these books go deeply into the history of christianity and they also explore a lot of controversial topics.
If anyone has read these books and knows what I am talking about, it would be cool to hear your opinions.

I'm sorry I haven't read them but I plan to. I'd just like to point out that the books are meant to be fiction. Also in the Da vinci code most of his facts are wrong and the whole premiss of the book is based on a group that was found out to be a hoax a few year ago. I think he is a great writer but I have a problem with how he passes of complete lies as the truth. I know he says that they are meant to be fiction, but come on you really think he doesn't kind of hint that some of the things in his book are real.

Hi,

Im getting through them slowly.
Ive read "Digital Fortress" and Im about 50 pages from the end of "Angels and Demons" and I am enjoying them.
I have been told that they are totally fictitious and most of the things he speaks of are not correct or factual.
Such as The positions of the monuments in Rome etc. I wouldnt know about this, its just what I have been told.
They are good books though.

I haven't read "Angels & Demons" but "The Da Vinci Code" was a fun, quick read. The "controversy" is largely based on a book called "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" (which is also largely a work of fiction, but also a highly entertaining read).

If you liked the conpiratorial, secret history aspect of "Da Vinci Code", I recommned reading "Foucault's Pendulum" by Humberto Eco. It's a little less accessible than Dan Brown's book, but much more rewarding, in my opinion.

I have yet to read The DaVinci Code, but I'd second Abogado's recommendation of Foucault's Pendulum. It's a very dense but rewarding read.
