Re: Daily Wisdom Saying
Desiderata (I love this)
Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons - they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself to others you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture the strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labours and aspirations, in the confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham and drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. |

Re: Daily Wisdom Saying
Therefore it is said, 'In representing the Dao of Heaven one uses the terms Yin and Yang, and in representing the Dao of Earth one uses the terms Soft and Hard, while in representing the Dao of Man, one uses the terms Love and Righteousness'.--Zhou Dunyi

Re: Daily Wisdom Saying
ooh, nice
ok, how about this:"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure th betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a little bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." -Ralph Waldo Emmerson |

Re: Daily Wisdom Saying
I saw this on a quilt displayed in a hall in the local Jewish Home (the lady embroidered the list on her patch):
"I am Jewish I am Christian I am Buddhist I am Bahai I am black I am brown I am yellow I am white I am straight I am gay I am female I am male I am young I am old I am rich I am poor I am you You are me We are they They are we If we love all G!d's children - Not just you, not just me - G!d's love will fill the earth And that love will set us free." Re: Daily Wisdom Saying
Humankind is being led along an evolving course,
through this migration of intelligencies, and though we seem to be sleeping, there is an inner wakefulness, directing the dream, and this will eventually startle us back to the truth of who we are. RUMI |
