Re: Britain's Got Talent - Connie
Wonderful job...
My favorite over the rainbow singer never made it while she was alive. Eva Cassidy died of melanoma at a young age...She used to sing in my brother in law's band and played at our parties and around town a lot...record companies ignored her because she liked to sing all genre of music and they couldn't put her in a box. After she made her transition a musician friend Chuck Brown brought in a bunch of tapes to a local public radio station and did a two hour memorial to her. I was building a sewing room and screen porch on my mom's house that day...and hearing her sing over the rainbow from over the rainbow made me stop working and brought me to tears. That tribute by Chuck was her claim to fame. The station was inundated with calls asking for a CD, her parent's got a label to put something together...the CD first took off locally and then slowed down in sales...somehow the UK and Australia got a hold of her music and it took off...She's hit tops of internet sales and amazon sales with the CD's I think maybe six now...all posthumously...I remember going to see the band in honky tonk bars where half the patrons were just into their beer and conversation... I love memories....and I thank Jack and Connie taking me down the lane just now.... |

Re: Britain's Got Talent - Connie
Love Eva! Listening to her right now from my old Napster files. Selections from "Songbird". There's Autumn Leaves and Wade in the Water. And I've got Kathy's Song, I Know You By Heart, Tall Trees in Georgia, God Bless the Child (with Chuck Brown), Time is a Healer, Time After Time...and the list just goes on. Wow, did you know her? I think she was beautiful inside and out.
Funny, I was just looking for some stuff by Alison Krauss, and I put the disc in and there was all the Eva Cassidy material. So now that is what I'm listening to. Cool, huh wil? InPeace, InLove |
