August Birthdays

Happy Birthday to all the August babies (is that a contradiction in terms? )

Penguin on the 1st--that's today!

sjr on the 8th

kkawohl on the 14th

brucedgc on the 15th

and littlemissattitude on the 23rd

I have only counted back one year since the last log-in date, so if you are still out there reading, feel free to come on back and have some cake! Also, if I have overlooked anyone else, or you did not post your birthday on the Member's List, let me know and I'll add you to this month's greeting, if you like.

Well, I had to steal all the letters on the last cake I made. But this time I actually created some of my own! It is no doubt obvious, though, I am still new at this, so ignore the messy ones, please. And I know everyone may not celebrate birthdays, or necessarily call them "birthdays", so I hope you don't mind that I made you a cake anyway--and by the way, since it is a virtual dessert, it can be any flavor you like, made however you like....maybe soon I will learn to be more artistic. For now, it's just a standard birthday cake. I hope you enjoy....

InPeace,
InLove

P.S. Oops! Almost forgot to mention that I got some help making the cake here .

Re: August Birthdays

So, Penguin--I have looked all through my smiley box, and have come up with no penguins. I found a bat, a cat, a chicken, a horse, and a spider...but no penguin! I know they are near and dear to your heart (as I have visited your website--nice!).

Anyway, about the closest thing I found was this -->

I guess that will have to do for now. At least the walk is similar, I suppose?

But I really just wanted to say...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PENGUIN!

InPeace,
InLove

Re: August Birthdays

Morning, sjr! (Well, it is morning where I live, anyway).

I hope it is okay for me to wish you a happy birthday today, as you and I are not really acquainted and I don't know whether you celebrate it as such.

But I did notice your avatar. Maybe what I can do is relate a cute little story that might bnng you a smile. When my eldest daughter was a kid, she used to (still does, actually) like to make up lyrics to the tunes she'd here around the house a lot. Neither one of us really enjoyed shopping all that much, and I guess she picked up on that, because for "Cold Shot", she used to sing (still does, actually ) "Gots to go shoppin', and that's a drag", lol.

My husband went to school with the Vaughan brothers, and he says he used to envy them because they were allowed to break the dress code and wear long hair! Last night, we caught a Stevie Ray concert on PBS, and he also mentioned that he knew the guy who wrote the aforementioned song. (Sorry, I don't recall the name--no time to research that at the moment.)

Anyway, I hope you have a great day!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SJR!
(Rock On)

InPeace,
InLove

Re: August Birthdays

So this greeting is for kkawohl. I've been thinking and thinking....

How do I send a birthday greeting to someone with whom I have never spoken? Oh, lol--I know!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KKAWOHL!

(Please accept my apology for being late!)

Okay, that wasn't so difficult.

InPeace,
InLove

Re: August Birthdays

And a word for brucegdc--I looked all around for a little smiley who knew how to throw pots, but apparently the species has not yet uncovered this basic knowledge. Anyway, I just wanted to say....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BRUCEDGC!

Re: August Birthdays

Oh wait, here's something! It isn't exactly as nice as the handmade earthen vessels you make, brucedgc, but I thought of you anyway....

Re: August Birthdays

*a pride of :kitty:s enter stage right and head straight for center stage, a pair of them with a small banner loosely tied to their tails. The :kitty:s "tune up" then, after they are ready, they begin "singing", the pair with the small banner raise their tails, exposing what is printed on it:

Happy Birthday, brucegdc!

*after their performance, the :kitty:s with the banner lower their tails, then the :kitty: chorus exit stage right, a couple of kittens performing some tricks for brucegdc before following the rest of the chorus*

Re: August Birthdays

Since I started doing the birthday threads, I have come to realize just how many C-R members there are with whom I have not had the pleasure of a conversational exchange. Some of them do not post anymore, but some just don’t post very often. And while I realize that these threads have not exactly initiated a lot of dialogue, they have nevertheless prompted me to read in places I might have missed before, as I look for something to say in my greetings that will appeal personally to someone on a day that may have meaning to them. Sometimes I make some pleasant discoveries. This is one of those cases.

So, littlemissattitude, while I have only managed to read a few of your more recent postings, I would like to tell you that reading them has been quite enjoyable. I hope you are still participating, and that maybe sometime in the future, there will be an opportunity for us to get to know one another better. In the meantime, (and in the event you actually see this)...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LITTLEMISSATTITUDE!

InPeace,
InLove
