Abogado
Hello all.
I act as an "information connoisseur," and professional iconoclast (though my income is derived primarily from providing legal services).
I am a practicing lawyer (civil appeals mostly) in South Texas. I am originally from the Pacific Northwest United States. My wife and I got married six years ago, and our family includes two kids (one girl, age 3, and one boy, age 1.5), two dogs and one cat.

Kindest Regards, Abogado, and welcome to CR!
I have been enjoying your posts.
P.S., might I ask what "Abogado" means?

Hi Abogado, and welcome to CR>
It's nice to have you around - and as someone with very young children I can appreciate some of the fun you must have!!
I have to admit being curious about your use of the term "iconoclast" - a simple word, but there are so many possibilities that can be read from it.

Brian:
Thanks for the welcome. I must compliment you on building an outstanding discussion forum as evidenced by the high quality and overall civility of the discussions and the knowledge and diversity of the participants.
My use of the term "iconoclast" refers to my questioning attitude toward all matters (whether dressed up in the language of "traditional religion" or not). I question all beliefs and try to help others ask questions together. If we find satisfying answers to those questions, we will have strengthened our "faiths." Or maybe we'll find questions that don't have answers or matters that don't ring true when challenged. Or perhaps we'll find that the truth is in simply asking the questions rather than the answers.
I try to look past the culture and ego that settles in on myth and try to find the underlying experience that is trying to be expressed. The experience of digging beneath the "folk inflection of the elmentary idea", as Campbell says, opens us up to one another and brings us all back together. That's my view of what it means to be an "iconoclast."

Abogado del Diablo is Spanish for "Devil's Advocate."

Re: Abogado
As I've said elsewhere, it's the members that make a place like this.
And glad to see people like yourself as a part of that, Abogado.

Thank you very much, Sacredstar.
Amazing how time slows back down with small children around and how re-experiencing the world through their eyes can reconnect you with the joy of life.
BTW, for the record, we now have two dogs and two cats.

Re: Abogado
Dear Abogado
So very true I remember when my son was young and how much I truly appreciated the quality time with Jordan.
and your last post made me think of this:
Interesting that Jesus said that we must have the innocence of a child to enter the kingdom of heaven (love) he did not say that we had to have the wisdom of the sage. So after all the years of travelling, learning knowledge and gaining from experience, the integration into wisdom, he came to a wonderful conclusion.
The Child
Sow the joy of innocence
the dance of the child
limitless divine love
coming from the purest of hearts
creates the Kingdom of Love
Love beyond measure

Re: Abogado
Nah, you are just stressed and tired, Brian. Did you have your vacation this year? I know it's difficult when you are on your own, but you still need to find some time to relax.
