Re: "a" or "the" true religion

Those folk who believe that they have a monopoly on truth, almost certainly do not. Truth is as many-coloured as a kaleidoscope. Please let me quote from: http://makeashorterlink.com/?J46D1104C

Quote:
"... Zarathushtra's

totally good God. It is a message of freedom - freedom to choose, freedom from fear, freedom from guilt, freedom from sin, freedom from stultifying rituals, superstitious practices, fake spirituality and ceremonials.
Quote:

The God of Zarathustra, is not a God of "Thou shalt" and "Thou shall not". God in Zoroastrianism does not care what you wear, what and when you eat or where and when you worship. God instead cares how righteous, progressive and good you are.

The Zoroastrian Religion pictures humanity as the growing and evolving creation of a God that respects it, and wants it to collaborate in the task of preserving, nourishing, fostering and refreshing this Living World of ours. A Zoroastrian is supposed to progress towards God (Ahura Mazda) by their own choices. Choosing to do good, and to avoid choosing to do wrong or evil. Zoroastrianism is thus the first truly ethical religion of humanity and teaches that mortals achieve their goal of god-likeness and spiritual completeness by fighting evil through good thoughts, words and deeds.

Mazdayasna (The Worship of the Wise), another name for Zoroastrianism, teaches the equality of all mortals before their Wise creator God; who only sees a difference in righteousness among mortals. Thus there is equality of race, nation, gender and social position..."

While Zoroastrianism notes that is is (as far as it can tell), the first monotheistic religion, it nonetheless does not see itself as 'the' way for everyone. In point of fact I would argue that the more a religion defines itself as "the truth", the less relationship it actually has with Truth.

Interesting. Righteouness, Truth and Faith.

"Paulinism" tells us the same thing Since I believe in the messiah promised to the world, I have to believe in what Paul says about the faith of Abraham, and his quotations from the OT.

(Young) Galatians 3: 7 Therefore know that [only] those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. 8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles [non-jews/circumcision] by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, [saying,] "In You all the nations shall be blessed." 9 So then those who [are] of faith are blessed with believing Abraham....... 28 there is not here Jew or Greek, there is not here servant nor freeman, there is not here male and female, for all ye are one in Christ Jesus;

John 8:39
They answered and said to Him, "Abraham is our father." Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham.

Genesis 15:4 And behold, the word of the LORD [came] to him, saying, "This one shall not be your heir [#03423], but one who will come from your own bowels [#04578]shall be your heir."

2 Samuel 7:12 " When your[David] days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your bowels [#04578], and I will establish his kingdom.

Matthew 1:1
The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham:

Re: "a" or "the" true religion

I agree with the concept of all of us carry a little piece of the truth within us, and no one spirituality/religion can fulfill everyone spiritually.

This is what I believe: The Divine Entity is at the top of the mountain and we all have to find our own way to get there. There are many roads to the
top and we have to find the one that will get us there. My road may be different than yours, but spiritual fulfillment and advancement of the soul are
common goals. We are all on the same journey, but some of us follow different paths to reach our ultimate destination / spiritual fulfillment.

Mee, I like you, I really do. But this cut and paste stealing of others' copyrighted work has got to stop. There are legal implications. Just how
Christian is it of you to cause Brian grief? Are you out to get the site shut down? Hiding behind some silly excuse of "oh I guess they don't want to hear the truth" is non-sense. And you know it. We've put up with a great deal of this, after repeated requests to cease and desist.

I am making this one final effort, please stop this plagiarizing. Share your view with us, but do it in your own words.

Re: "a" or "the" true religion

I couldn't find a terms of use page at the Watchtower site, but I did find one at the World Wide Association of Jehovah's Witnesses site relating to the use of downloaded materials. These materials are essentially the same as what is offered at the Watchtower site so I would assume that the same policy applies.
Quote:
Terms of Use

Site visitors may download copyrighted materials for their personal, non-commercial use only. By downloading such materials from this site, visitors agree not to post these materials on any electronic network, redistribute them without written permission, or share these materials in exchange for money, even if no profit is involved. Site visitors may not modify, publish, or participate in the transfer or sale of any of the content, in whole or in part.
I don't know if members have a special remit to reproduce copyrighted materials without attribution. I suppose we could contact the Watchtower Society and find out.

Nobody knows, we can only guess, and any that say otherwise are blatantly lying

You can't. Perhaps there is no true religion, maybe all are valid or all are false. There's no true way of knowing. Maybe at the end of the day we do not need religion at all, that it may be nothing more than social control

So, is there a true religion and which is the true religion?
I believe there are nine true religions, the Baha'i Faith, the Babi Faith (immediately preceding the Baha'i Faith,) Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Sabaeanism, Zoroastrianism, and Hinduism. That doesn't mean I agree with everything that all of the followers of each religion currently believe. I believe in the divine origin of them and the truth of their Founders.
