A comparitive study.

Hello,
First let me apologize if this question is in the wrong forum. It is a comparison which i hope leads me to answers im searching for..(if there is a forum strictly for question, which i have alot of, please let me know.)

Throughout history two things have flourished in every culture in a plethora of forms. The divirsity of these two things is quite astounding, and has always perplexed me. They are very similiar in many ways, both spark heated debate, both have many followers and enthusiusts, both have been used for monetary gain. But both ( i believe ) come from within. A quieter place where (I personally) only get glimpses of and hardly understand.

Im talking about religion, and music.
Not religious music. I mean civilizations have always had diverse thoughts and practices of religion, but also diverse music. Music and Religion are somthing every culture has. Is there a deeper relationship between the two?
Is there somthing to be obtained by the two once joined?
I love music, ive been exposed to music since the day i was born, and in playing, I often find myself in a state not much unlike meditation that i also practice, and the sounds the i make with other people are often a connection on a deeper level. Like I am you and you are me. I heard that somewhere once and it rings true with me. Please does anyone have any thoughts on the matter? Do i sound crazy?
Regards,
Rustic.

There is an interesting recent thread on the subject of certain songs having a spellbound quality to them. Go here:

Re: A comparitive study.

thats an interesting thread. Obviously music moves us all in some way. I think i saw an interview somehwere with jimi hendrix, he talked about music as a spirituality . But does anyone here play music.? and if so do u find some ..."clarity" in playin.. like i said i get a sort of calm about my head when i play. Let meknow your thoughts.
